So for some reason WordPress doesn’t like to embed Flash movies on my page. Maybe I just need to get a real account or uncheck a box or something, who knows. But here’s the link to watch this footage on M-tv’s site. Cause ya when I think Zombies, I think M-tv… wtf!
This looks very interesting. Action, some yucks, and the undead! What more could you ask for, wait it’s based off a comic. Whats that you say!? Well pure awesomeness is correct.
There have been a few photos and a poster from the Frank Darabont shoot and Andrew Lincoln in character as Rick Grimes, but this is the first time we have seen the full cast together for the first season of AMC’s The Walking Dead – The adaption of Robert Kirkman’s zombie comic.
From left to right we have a zombie, possibly Emma Bell as Amy , Jon Bernthal as Shane Walsh, Steven Yuen as Glenn, Sarah Wayne Callies as Lori Grimes, Chandler Riggs as Carl Grimes, Andrew Lincoln as Rick Grimes, Jeffrey DeMunn as Dale and Laurie Holden as Andrea.
The photo looks great and matches the style of the comic book. Everyone looks spot on, but I still have a niggling doubt about Lincoln as the lead. Doesn’t look quite right, but will wait to see him in action.
A few days ago I posted on Quint’s day on the set of AMC’s upcoming series The Walking Dead. This was a two part post and he is back with the rest of the day and some more photos. After reading this, I have very high hopes for The Walking Dead. It seems that the people making this are very into it. And the writer has a lot of influence over what happens with the story. Nothing I hate worse then a great book, or comic and someone decides that they know better then the author. Normally if it was popular enough to become a movie/tv series then the book/comic had something going. Don’t fuck up a good thing!!
Sorry had to vent there a little. And now the link to rest of the story. Here!
Bracken over at The Horror Geek posted this some time ago. I haven’t kept up with the blog as much as I would have liked. So here is some more stuff to fill your zombie needs!
Sorry for the long delay between posts — I’ve been doing a lot of stuff over at Horror Squad (and if you’re not checking me out there, you should be — it’s extra content) and I’ve not had a bunch of free time. I’m back today though, with more Walking Dead goodness.
Pictured above is the first production photo from AMC’s new series — based on Robert Kirkman’s comic set after the zombie apocalypse. Greg Nicotero of the mighty KNB Effects did the zombie design and it looks amazing. Director Frank Darabont concurs, saying “Greg Nicotero is absolutely out-doing himself. The work he is doing is beyond what one could hope for. Our Zombies kick ass!”
The series is set to debut on AMC later this year.
AMC has added to the cast of Frank Darabont’s apocalyptic zombie drama “The Walking Dead.”
The production has tapped Laurie Holden for the role of Andrea, a key member of the survivor group who has a proficiency with a sniper rifle and falls for a man twice her age.Holden was in writer-producer-director Darabont’s “The Mist” and had a recurring role in the final season of FX’s “The Shield.” She is repped by APA and Framework.
Also, Adam Fierro has joined the production as a consulting producer. The ICM-repped Fierro has worked on such serialized dramas as “Dexter,” “Shield” and “24.”In addition, newcomer Steven Yeun has been added to the cast as Glenn. He and Holden join Andrew Lincoln, Jeffrey DeMunn and Jon Bernthal on the show.
A few days ago we reported that the AMC network green-lit a six-episode start to the television adaptation of The Walking Dead, the immensely popular comic series by Robert Kirkman. Right on the heels of this nerd appeasing news AMC announces that the books main protagonist has been cast. Andrew Lincoln will play small town cop, father, husband and one armed badass, Rick Grimes.
Lincoln is a bit of an unknown. He’s past work primarily consists of British TV including stints on This Life, and Teachers. Unsure if this classy brit can fufill the role of the burden heavy leader of a group of survivors coping with the zombie apocalypse? Well, fear not because he’s got Robert Kirkmans endorsement. Robert was qouted saying: ”Andrew Lincoln, wow, what an amazing find this guy is.”
He said: “Writing Rick Grimes month after month in the comic series, I had no idea he was an actual living breathing human being, and yet here he is. I couldn’t be more thrilled with how this show is coming together.”
If he’s good enough for Robert Kirkman he’s good enough for us.
The Walking Dead is about people coming together to survive and the story follows a Kentucky police officer, Rick Grimes, and his family along with a bunch of other survivors who work together in resistance of the world that’s been overrun with zombies. As I’ve said before, It’s not about Zombies popping out of no where to give us a good scare. No, it’s a rich, smart, character driven story about what happens when a group of peope are forced to survive in a world ruled by the dead. It’s filled with great moments of suspense, psychological terror and gut wrenching loss. It will make for a fantastic television series.
The series officially begins production in June and is set to premier in October during AMC’s Fearfest event.
